Welcome to the Lists! Please keep the following in mind while posting to this forum: Viewer discretion is advised. Be especially careful concerning the year of production as many movies and shows have the same titles but are not made in the same year and could be quite bad in some cases. The movies are chosen because they are true, pleasing, and free from occasion of sin. In more detail this means that:
Category Distinctions:
CHILDREN
This list includes mild allusions to evolution, love stories, mild action violence, and mildly scary scenes. Some children will wonder why their favourite shows never mention God or Jesus. You may tell them that we sometimes teach children through stories or parables. These stories help children to picture how to properly behave in order to please God.
TEENAGER
These movies include mild language, depiction of Westernized Buddhist culture, use of deadly force on screen, scary suspense, a quick kiss, women wearing slightly immodest outfits, and mild innuendo.
ADULT
These movies include vulgar language in stressful settings, immodest dress as is common today, use of God’s name in vain, intense scariness, and abundant violence. This list and the language in many of these movies may be shocking to some; however, it is a good list for those looking to transition out of just watching everything.
Final Notes:
Your comments can help to steer others as they consider these lists. Your feedback is always appreciated, however, I may choose to delete comments that endorse an item not on these lists. This is not an attack on you or your favourite movie or book, but rather a consideration for the universality of these lists. For example, some movies can only be watched under the supervision of an informed instructor. I have not yet undertaken such a list as it would require a detailed breakdown of the errors to be discussed in each movie. I do appreciate, however, that this is a valuable exercise to do to train the correct judgment of future adults.
